1972 Chevrolet C10 Custom 10 deluxe long bed SURVIVOR YG8-C special order Highlander edition factory original 350 V8 5.7 small block Chevy said to be the original motor the gentleman we bought it from is the third owner and he knew the first two owners a father and son and told us that the 122,000 miles is original and we have a piece of paper that he signed stating that. Th350 Auto transmission. Was AC needs a few components to get it working again. PS power Disc Brakes. Factory Bench orange plaid, Highlander, original seat, cover seat, Factory white deluxe door panels. Orange painted dash. No head liner. Black dash pad. Factory power Disc Brakes, Factory power steering, factory Power Disc Brakes work like new. Gorgeous mostly original Orange and White bc cc paint. All original Grill and surround. The original deluxe wood grain body side molding has seen better days, but if you’re in a patina trucks, this one has an all original great patina. The tail gate needs replaced. It’s bent original from the dealer steel rear bumper. Original chrome front bumper. The doors hood and tail gate Open and close easily and they align properly.
The factory red Orange = Orange paint. This truck is beautiful as is especially if you’re in the patina. All original windows. The windshield and other glass the door glass, align properly and roll up and down easily. It starts easily and it runs and drives excellent. Factory 12 bolt rear end is rebuilt with new 3:55 rear gears. 15x8” Deep rally wheels. Rwl radial tires. This a highly optioned Highlander C10 custom tend deluxe LWB truck that is mostly Solid and absolutely beautiful as is.
The YG8 "Spec Promotion Pkg-C" is the holy grail code for a 1972 Chevy truck collector.
It is the official internal GM code that proves this truck is a genuine, top-tier 1972 Chevrolet Highlander Special Edition.
?Chevy introduced the Highlander mid-year in 1972 as a special spring promotional marketing campaign to move trucks.
Instead of ordering a bunch of standalone options, the Highlander package grouped highly desirable appearance and comfort features together at a discounted price, all tied together by that iconic Scottish plaid interior.
?Here is exactly how the YG8 Package C worked and why it's so special
?1. It Was a Tiered Upgrade System
?Chevy offered the Highlander package in three tiers: Package A, Package B, and Package C.
?Package A & B were lower-tier packages usually paired with smaller 6-cylinder or 307 V8 engines, basic hubcaps, and less trim.
?Package C (YG8) was the absolute top-of-the-line tier. To get Package C, the truck had to be ordered with a premium powertrain (like the LS9 350 V8 and Turbo 400 transmission this truck has).
?2. What YG8 Bundled Together
?By checking the YG8 box on the order form, the factory automatically bundled the highest trim options available for the Action Line trucks, including:
?Z62 Custom Deluxe Equipment: Upgraded insulation, premium door panels, and a higher-quality headliner.
?Deluxe Exterior Trim: It automatically included the BX2 wide lower body side moldings and B85 upper beltline moldings to perfectly accent the two-tone paint.
?PA1 Deluxe Wheel Covers: The premium, full-size chrome hubcaps rather than basic painted steel wheels or small "dog dish" caps.
?3. The Exclusive Orange Plaid Trim (Code 618)
?You could not get code 618 (Orange Plaid) unless you ordered a Highlander package. The Highlander featured color-matched poly-knit plaid inserts embedded into premium parchment vinyl seats.
Since this truck is painted White & Red Orange (Hugger Orange), it got the legendary orange-and-black plaid inserts.
?Why it matters today
?In the C10 world, anybody can buy aftermarket plaid seat covers and slap them into a truck to mimic the look. But a true, factory-documented YG8 Highlander is incredibly rare.
